Robert Koch was born in Johannesburg (South Africa) in March 1966. He received both his B.Eng and M.Eng degrees cum laude from the University of Stellenbosch. He has been employed by Eskom since 1990, and is currently Corporate Consultant/Specialist (Power Quality) and Eskom’s National Quality of Supply Coordinator. Robert is an active Cigré working group member and convener of the C4 Advisory Group AG C4.1 (Power Quality). He is also convener of IEC SC77A/WG8. He has published over 90 technical papers related to regulation, power quality, and technical performance and has consulted to various power companies and research organisations throughout the world. He is recipient of the SAIEE Young Achievers Award for his contributions to power quality management in South Africa, and of the Cigré Technical Committee Award for his contributions to the work of Study Committee C4 (System Technical Performance).
